What is a Celebrant?

A celebrant is the title given to the person who conducts ceremonies. For those who may feel uncomfortable with the restrictions imposed by a religious or civic ceremony, a celebrant can guide you through the alternatives. If you are choosing a wedding ceremony, the legal formalities will still need to take place in a register office but this can be easily arranged at minimal cost and fuss on a separate occasion, allowing you to concentrate on making the ceremony itself all you dreamed it could be.

Weddings

Weddings involve so many decisions: the venue, the dress, the cake and a hundred other details- but at the heart of every wedding is the ceremony. I can help you make your own ceremony as formal or informal as you wish. You may want to use the traditional words and vows long associated with weddings or something more unusual and bespoke. I can offer additional elements such as handfasting, jumping the broom or a sand or rose ceremony to make your day memorable for you and your guests.

Vow Renewals

Many couples choose to mark a special anniversary or perhaps coming through a difficult period with a ceremony in which they renew their vows. Perhaps the original wedding was organised to suit family as much as the couple and now you would like a ceremony that can be entirely your choice. I can help involve other members of the family such as children in the ceremony if you wish so that the experience will be a celebration to remember.

Naming Ceremonies

A new baby is such a joy and what better excuse for a ceremony and a celebration? A naming ceremony is the non religious equivalent of a christening and it marks the welcoming into the family of a new addition. Naming ceremonies can also be used when a blended family comes together and children take on the name of a step parent. I will help you to mark the occasion for your child so that it is a happy and significant memory.

Funerals

A funeral should commemorate and celebrate the life of the person who has died. I will spend time with the family finding out about this person so that the ceremony we craft together and conduct can truly reflect the unique individual. Family members can play as much part in the ceremony as you wish. I can help with the choice of readings and music and ensure that the day is a fitting tribute.

Prices

Each ceremony has a base price which includes travel within a ten mile radius of Southampton. The standard ceremony package includes one face to face meeting prior to the ceremony and unlimited phone and email contact to make sure everything is just as you would wish. I have included the standard package prices below but quotations for more bespoke ceremonies are available on request.
